Avery Strachan
Partner
Since Avery Strachan joined Silverman Thompson, she has developed and grown the firm's civil and real estate practices. Her practice focuses on virtually all areas of commercial and residential real estate, including representation of landlords, tenants, developers, investors, real estate investment trusts, franchisees, property management companies, and brokers.
She handles all matters related to the ownership and operation of real estate projects, including management, leasing, dispute resolution, development, and construction for all types of residential, retail, office, industrial, hospitality, and mixed-use projects. Ms. Strachan is known for effectively handling matters in the most efficient way possible and being sensitive to the time and cost concerns of all her clients.
Notably, Ms. Strachan advises clients on all components of commercial real estate transactions and represents developers, owners, and equity investors in acquiring, developing, leasing, and disposing of real estate. She also represents premier commercial and residential property management companies, handling lease enforcement, rent collection, and possession recovery for various property types. Her extensive experience also equips her to assist clients in mitigating risks and minimizing liability.
Ms. Strachan consistently resolves issues for clients with an extraordinarily high success rate, earning her the reputation as one of the best real estate and landlord-tenant lawyers in Maryland. She attacks problem-solving by micro-analyzing the issues at hand, examining every option, and then executing a commonsensical and cost-conscious resolution tailor-made to the situation and its stakeholders. Her strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills have resulted in long-standing client relationships and led to successes in both my litigation and transactional practice.
This year, she received recognition in the 2026 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® for her work in real estate litigation and is a known mentor in the Maryland legal community, having recently spoken on the Maryland State Bar Association Young Lawyers Section Open Meeting: Exploring Long-Term Careers for Women in Law panel.
